Over this Christmas holiday, my husband, Bobby, despite a recent knee injury that makes walking difficult and carrying things down stairs nearly impossible, surprised me by cleaning out a portion of our cellar and setting up six hospital tanks. He did enlist the help of our roommate to haul the heavy things in there, which I’m glad for because I would’ve felt bad if he’d done that all by himself with his injury.
It’s all still a work in progress, as you can see. I need to get lights and a variety of other things in there, but when it’s all said and done, I’ll be able to house four small and two medium turtle patients (I do not at this time have the capability to house large snapping turtles).
I’ve also decided to invest in my potential future as a rehabber by buying a domain name. WordPress had a sale that was quite reasonable and I thought I’d try it out. I figure that I will eventually need to have an official place to put information about rehabbing, ask for money, etc., aside from facebook (although I know I’ll need one of those too, and probably some other ones). I’ve gone ahead and reserved one of those facebook page names to match my domain name. I’m not going to go social-media crazy just yet, though. I’ll park the big 3 (facebook, twitter, instagram) and add content later. We’ll see how much I feel like managing in my spare time. I’ll add pictures and such to make it snazzy on the facey-pages once I’m actually certified. Then we’ll see about all the other social nonsense.
The name I’m going with is Turtle Haven, CT. Not to be confused with all those other turtle havens out there, of which there are at least a couple. I’m actually just going to call it Turtle Haven, but the handle will be turtlehavenct on all of the things. It’s a play on words because I’ll have made a haven for turtles and we’re also located in New Haven. See what I did there? Pretty clever, right? That’s okay, nobody else needs to think it’s clever but me.

Sweet husband you’ve got there! Domain names reservation good idea.
